A year or so ago there were a few comments made by friends and family suggesting Samson and Bodie might be “getting a little robust”. Ok, they were also made by the vet and it was recommended that we feed these rolly pollies about half of what they were currently being fed. They gave us a very small cup to use for correct portions. Needless to say, neither of the pups was very happy but over the last year or so they have both slimmed way down and now look svelte and FABULOUS and I have reassured them that nothing tasted as good as skinny feels. However…

Bodie is much more active than Samson and while my parents were visiting for a month in December, Samson and Bodie were outside and running around a lot more. Well, more accurately put, Bodie was running and Samson was meandering around or chewing on roots. Anyway, Danny and I started to notice that Bodie had lost even more weight and actually looked a bit skeletal. I took him to the vet and they did a full blood panel which came back perfect. Turns out there was nothing wrong with him and we were basically just starving him. We’ve learned that Bodie needs to eat slightly more than Samson due to the differences in body type and activity, especially when his activity increases. So we stepped up his food intake and he has really filled out and looks great!

We should have known we were starving this dog since these incidents occurred during the family visit…

We had just cleared the table when just plain hungry turned into hangry. Bodie jumped up on the table to see what was leftover while we were all sitting at it. I mean seems like a pretty clear sign of desperation for food. I was of course, horrified and reminded of the countertop incident of 2015, while my family was doubled over with laughter.

The very next morning after a long and tiresome game of frisbee in the backyard Bodie felt like he needed a little pick me up and just then…HARK, upon the outdoor table, was an unguarded freshly poured cup of coffee. Just what he needed, he thought before gulping the whole thing down. I thought, well at least it’s not lobster shells or a bar of soap, both of which he has consumed more than once in the past.

We couldn’t stay mad at our little junkyard dog…He was just so hungry.
